Happy 2nd Birthday Blog!

Birthday cake anyone?

It’s no secret that the older you get the quicker time seems to go. Most of the time I still feel as if I’m about 16, muddling my way through and trying to be an adult. But somehow in the last two years, since the beginning of Broadsheet Boutique, I’ve made that jump from playing grown up at University to actually being a grown up. With a proper job. And a house to sort of call my own. Gulp.

A lot can happen in two years, a lot can happen in five minutes or 30 seconds, but that’s what keeps life interesting. I haven’t blogged as much as I should have in the last year.  Mostly due to time, perhaps a little due to lack of inspiration or will.

But in the next year I want to reinvent Broadsheet Boutique again. I want to make it have snappy little posts  (like one of my fave quick-read blogs I Feel like I Dreamt It) as well as longer projects like the sewing ones.

I want to make my pictures snazzier (yes that’s a word) and also throw in some curveballs, a few film reviews, or just cool places I’ve been (like the Enchanted Forest in Kent) or stories I hear, famous people I meet, foods that I try and love, or hate, and just things that make life interesting.

I want to make my blog more dynamic, but hopefully not bore the pants off all my Facebook and Twitter friends with too many posts.

There is so much I want to do, with the blog, and outside of it. Ambition is a strange little thing and it’s what keeps you going when you’re eyelids droop and you’re mind says enough, enough now (the way Andrew Lincoln does when he walks away from Keira Knightly in the snow in Love Actually). Desire to do stuff is what makes you put the kettle on and keep going to write, and read, and tick stuff off the to do list. There’s three things on my life to-do list. I’ve done two halves.

There is a lot I want to achieve by the time the third birthday of my blog comes around. But for now, here’s a little recap of what I have done in the last year, both blog-related and not, because it’s only by looking back that we can make sure we do even more in the future.

  • 15, 638 views of the blog, thank you.
  • Ran two half marathons. Both in under two hours and five minutes. Boom.
  • 405 views on my busiest day  thanks to a post about injunctions and everyone wanting to know who it was at the centre. I didn’t say.
  • Become an auntie again. Twice.
  • Watched the sun come up at 7am on the beach having not gone to sleep yet.
  • 96 posts – Not nearly as many as the first year.
  • Packed up my belongings ready to move again.
  • Lied and lost something. Maybe.
  • Had a short story published. All about the broken hearts isn’t it. Read about it here.
  • 156 comments – I love the comments, it’s always nice to know someone is listening.
  • Broken my thumb. Silly.
  • Graduated. For the second time.
  • Danced so many times well after the world has gone to bed.

What a year. So far….Thanks for reading my little Broadsheet Boutique. I hope you like the third chapter.

    promises, promises!

anyhow, if you need a bit of a boost to your will power, fresh inspiration or someone who enjoys having their pants bored off them then that’s generally what brings me down from my tree (that and a bit of birthday cake…).

I look forward to reading the complete novel.
